Book launch

Sumith Nanayakkara's latest Sinhala novel Chaura Unmadaya was launched at Dayawansa Jayakody Bookshop, Colombo 10 on May 24 at 10 am.

The author's Sinhala novel Magam Soli won the first prize in a competition organised by the publishers.

Chaura Unmadaya is a Dayawansa Jayakody publication.


Romaya Giniganee 2

Bandula Vithanage's new play Romaya Giniganee 2 will be staged at the Navarangahala Colombo on May 29 at 6.30 pm The cast includes Sampath Tennakoon, Ratna Lalani Jayakody, Bandula Vithanage, Ayesha Dissanayake, Upali Bandara, Tilini Priyanwada and Ishara Wickremasinghe.

The play directed by Bandula Vithanage is a Roger Seneviratne production. Stage control is by Vajira Kumari Vithanage, lighting by Vasantha Kumara and make up by Jagath Padmasiri. Music is by Malik Perera, while Edward Chandrasiri is the production manager.


Lakshitha Matarachchi

First Sinhala book on sound controlling

Lakshitha Matarachchi’s Obe Nivase Shabdagaraya will be launched at the Colombo Public Library auditorium on May 27 at 11 am.

The book is the first Sinhala book to be written on sound controlling and also covers the GCE O\L music syllabus.

The key note of address will be presented by Navaratne Gamage.

Wet on wet

Nimal Karunadasa’s watercolour exhibition, ‘Wet on Wet’, will be on display at Alliance Francaise de Kandy till May 29.

Nimal Karunadasa, a teacher by profession, held two group exhibitions in 2004 and 2011 and a solo exhibition in D S Senanayake Library, Kandy, in 2007, using watercolor. He is also a cartoonist and a poetry writer.

He won many awards at national and international levels – including a third place in the art competition at fourth Asia Pacific Region Countries Conference 2008 and the second place Excellence awards at the 120th Annual Art and Craft Exhibition 2010.


Torana video head Kumara Kothalawala opened a new branch at Liberty Plaza on April 24. The pirith chanting was done by Ven Bellanvila Vimalarathana Parliament coordinator Kumarasiri Hettige was the chief guest.
