The Sri Lanka Defence Services
Suwanari Clinic which had been organized by the Police Seva
Vanitha Unit on the Siriliya Saviya concept, was held
yesterday at the Colombo Crimes Division under the patronage
of First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa. The Clinic was conducted
by a team of medical practitioners headed by specialist
doctor Hemantha Dodanpahala. The chairperson of the Seva
Vanitha Unit, Asha Balasooriya is also in picture. |
Water cut
The water supply to Moragasmulla, Obesekerapura, Bandaranayakapura,
Rajagiriya, Koswatta, Nawala and Open University will be interrupted
today until 2pm. The National Water Supply and Drannig Board said.
Photography exhibition
A special photography exhibition titled 'Buddhism in India' will be
held at the E L Senanayake Children's Library, Kandy from May 25 to 27
from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
This exhibition has been organised by the Indian Arts Centre of the
Assistant Indian High Commissioner's Office in Kandy to mark the 2600th
Sambuddhatva Jayanthi.
Admission is free.
AGM
The annual general meeting of the Old Boys' Association of Sri
Jayawardenepura College (Christian College) Kotte will be held on May 22
from 9.30 am at the college hall.
Public talk
Prashantha Lal de Alwis will deliver a public talk in English on
'Leadership and Buddhism' today at 4.30 pm at Maithree Hall, Lauries
Road, Bambalapitiya.
Wildlife AGM
The 117th Annual General Meeting of the Wildlife and Nature
Protection Society of Sri Lanka will be held on May 28 at 5.00 pm at the
Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science Auditorium, 120/10
Vidya Mawatha, Colombo 7. The AGM will be followed by a film
presentation on elephants.
Memorial lecture
Geoffrey Bawa Memorial lecture 2011 organized by the Geoffrey Bawa
Trust to coincide with late architect Geoffrey Bawa's birthday will be
held on May 27 at 6.30 p.m at the P de S Kularatne Hall, Ananda College,
Colombo 8.
The lecture will be delivered by architects Wong Mun Summ and Richard
Hassell Directors and founders of the architectural practise WOHA,
Singapore.
Porn seized in Pettah

Pornographic newspapers and magazines and VCDs kept in a shop in
Pettah were sized by police yesterday.
Police seized 1,370 pornographic magazines and newspapers. The
suspect, Ranwalage Jeevana Prasanna, a resident of Gonawala, is to be
produced before court.
Met Dept predicts rain
Several areas in the Western Province and in the Galle and Matara
districts will experience showers today, the Meteorology Department
said.
Thundershowers will develop at several places in the Sabaragmauwa.

Prelate passes away
Ven Rajakeeya Panditha Rekawa Gunasiri Nayake Thera, Chief Incumbent
of Dharmaramaya, Kaludewala, Panadura and head of Amarapura Siri
Saddhammayukthika Matara Maha Nikaya passed away.
The remains lie at the Kaludewala Temple. Cremation takes place on
Sunday 22 at 2pm at Panadura M C Grounds.
Anniversary
The 51st anniversary celebration and prize giving of the Madhrasathul
Malharis Sulhiyya Jumma will be held today, May 21 at 4.30 pm at the
Madhrasa premises. Senior Minister A H M Fowzie will be the chief guest. |
