Thangaraja and Bandara for Malaysia

The number one golf amateur of the country N Thangaraja along with
Vijitha Bandara will participate in two back to back events, the 109th
Malaysian Amateur Golf Championship and the Kurnia Saujana Championship
which is to be worked off from May 20 to 26 in Malaysia.

Thangaraja who has been a long standing member of the Royal Colombo
Golf Club has won the 'May Grand Prix' championship at the recently
concluded Sri Lanka Golf Union's Monthly Grand Prix tournament while
keeping the former Victoria Golf and Country Resort member Vijith
Bandara in the second place.
The local team left the country on May 17 with the team manager Ana
Punchihewa. The prestigious Malaysian Amateur Golf Championship will be
played at the A'Famosa Golf Course from May 20 to 23 which is a par-72
and located in Malacca. This course consists of rocky and palm terrain.
Altogether 156 players from 15 countries will be in action at the
Malaysian Amateur tournament and most of the amateur tournament
participants are expected to take part in the Kurnia Saujana tournament
as well which will be kicked off from May 24. |
