SWITCH Asia Greening Sri Lanka Hotels Project in collaboration with
the Tourist Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) held a meeting
called Eco-Vendor meet mart last week at Hotel Ramada Colombo.
The meeting was organized to meet environment friendly products and
equipment providers and show case their products and services to the
hoteliers interested in energy, water conservation and waste deduction.
SWITCH basically means switching from bad practices to good. Greening
Sri Lanka Hotels is a European Commission funded project and is done via
SWITCH - Asia programme which is targeting to enhance the environmental
performance of Sri Lankan Hotels through improvement of energy, water
and waste management systems. Reduce cost of operations and increase the
market acceptance of Sri Lankan hotels through promoting low carbon foot
print green hotels is the other purpose.
THASL President and Serene Pavilions CEO/Deputy Chairman Anura
Lokuhetty, and SWITCH Asia Programme Project Director Srilal Miththapala
spoke about the importance of Sri Lanka Hotels adopting sustainable
environmental practices.
For the first time the event brought together a cross section of
vendors providing environmental and energy conservation products and
services, with a large number of hoteliers. |
