President unveils Bodhi Prakaraya, Ranveta
President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday unveiled a newly built Bodhi
Prakaraya and Ranveta at the Sri Poorvarama Maha Viharaya,
Bodhiyandeniya, Bogamuwa.
The facility was built with funds contributed by Gamini Caldera and
Jayaratne Wanasinghe of Kalagedihena.
After participating in the unveiling ceremony, the President offered
the first Mal pooja at the Bodhi. Thereafter, Jayaratne Wanasinghe
presented a copy of the Siribodhiyandeniya Bodhi Prabha magazine to the
President.
President Rajapaksa offered a special memento to Viharadhipati Ven
Yongamulle Gnanaratana Nayake Thera in recognition of his Sasana
service. Minister Pandu Bandaranayake then presented a special memento
to the President.
Kelaniya University Chancellor Ven Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma Nayake
Thera administered pansil. Warana Raja Maha Viharadhipati Ven Dompe
Pannananda Thera, Attanagalle Raja Maha Viharadhipati Ven Pannila Ananda
Thera, Ministers Basil Rajapaksa, Mervyn Silva, Pandu Bandaranayake,
Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Sarana Gunawardena Deputy Minister D.K.S.
Gunawardena and Parliamentarian J.R.P. Sooriyapperuma were also present. |
