Long Arm of the Law chances its arm

Kandy townsfolk were witness to a rare spectacle yesterday when two policemen in full uniform traded blows in full view of the public in the middle of Dalada Vidiya, leading to pandemonium and one of the Khakied men ending up in hospital.

The fisticuff broke out when the duo were on traffic duty and when one of the policemen had reprimanded the other on the latter’s failure to book a vehicle which was flouting the one way guideline on Dalada Vidiya.

The injured policeman was identified as Nimal Ruwan Ranasinghe of the Reserve Police.

His colleague on traffic duty has reportedly been interdicted over the incident.
