Rally round pops this week

Get your finest pop costumes out of the closet and get ready to be entertained at ‘Rally Round Pops’, an evening of song and dance presented by the students of S Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia. Organised by the Parent Teacher Association of STC, The concert will go on the floors from May 13 to 15 at the College hall from 7.30 pm.

Sponsored by Foster & Reed, GOLD FM is providing electronic sponsorship for the event. Directed by Vinodh Senadeera, tickets and box plans can now be obtained from the College Gym.

Nearly 600 students will take part in the concert to spellbind pop enthusiasts and choristers from the famous Canto Perpetua choir are lending their vocals to ensure that the mood of the pop era is recreated at the concert in all its splendour. Produced by Marlon Jesudason, a former student of Vinodh Senadeera, the concert will feature some of the well known external musicians who are chipping in to enthrall pop goers of the country too.

The students are rehearsing relentlessly for the big show and all is being done to set the magnificence of the pop era right and the flamboyant sets have come in handy to add to the flavour of the concert. Be it the soothing numbers of the 70’s and 80’s or the toe tapping hits which pumps up one’s dance adrenaline, the concert comprises of quality entertainment to reckon with.

Complying with the popular trend of after show parties, a carnival will take place at the end of the show with many stalls where many after show excitements are lined up to make the pop night a memorable one.
