Lankan Junior Wushu players excel in Turkey

Sri Lankan junior Wushu players each won gold ,silver and bronze
medals at the inaugural World Children's Games concluded in Ankara ,
Turkey on May 2.
W A Danushka Madusanka of Piliyandala Central College who contested
in group A category won the gold medal in Thaijiquan event and became
the runner up to win the silver in Thaijijian event.
Heshani Jayaweera of Giggles International School won a bronze medal
in Qiangquan event in B group.
Binura Gunasekara , a student of Ananda College won 5th place at two
events in group A male category.
A total of seven junior Wushu players participated in the tournament
including Pasindu Perera, Hansani Jayasinghe, Gayani Madara and Pathum
Poorna.
The inaugural World Children's Games consisted of 14 different games
including Wushu and around 3000 players participated from 90 countries.
Manel Dharmakeerthi (team leader) , Ruchira Bodinagoda (international
judge) , Nishantha Pathiraja (team coach), Sifu Tong Low (international
expert coach) Nayana Damayanthi (lady chaperon) went on the tour with
the Wushu contingent. |
