'Withdraw Darusman Report'

At a time when the United States has killed the terrorist Osama Bin Laden who was a a threat to world peace, Sri Lanka calls upon the UN Secretary General to withdraw the controversial Darusman report which levelled false allegations against war heroes who eliminated Prabakaran and his terrorist outfit which was a threat to peace in Sri Lanka, said Agrarian Services and Wild Life Minister S M Chandrasena.

The Minister said so addressing a progress review meeting of the Matale District Divi Neguma programme held at the Matale Hotel School auditorium, Tuesday.

He said a terrorist is a terrorist wherever he may be.

"The LTTE was the most ruthless terrorist outfit in the world which introduced the 'human bomb' or the 'suicide bomb' to the world. The President and the security forces successfully eradicated terrorism and restored peace and dignity in the country".

The Darusman report which attempts to belittle that victory and obstruct Sri Lanka's development process is a serious challenge to the country's development and reconciliation efforts, the minister said. "It should be withdrawn forthwith and the UN and other western countries including US should assist Sri Lanka in the national rebuilding efforts".
