Call for intellectuals to defeat foreign interference
Hemanthi GURUGE
The National Intellectual Council (NIC) has called for the
establishment of a National Council of Intellectuals to defeat foreign
controversial interference.
Addressing the media yesterday at the National Library Board NIC
member and President's Counsel Manoharan de Silva said that the Darusman
report has been compiled to insult the country.
The Intellectual Council also condemns the controversial Darusman
Report on accusing Sri Lanka of alleged war crimes.
"UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon appointed a three-member committee
to advise him on Sri Lanka.
The report has made false allegations against the country."
He said that this is another western conspiracy against Sri Lanka.
This conspiracy does not aim at the President or the Armed Forces but to
invite foreign interferences in the country.
Army Colonel R R J W Jayakody said the Sri Lankan Armed forces had
ensured the safety of civilians during the war time.
