C’wealth games bid book presented to President
The bid book to be submitted to the Commonwealth Sports Conference
seeking host status of the 2018 Commonwealth Games for Sri Lanka’s
Hambantota City was presented to President Mahinda Rajapaksa by Sports
Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage at Temple Trees yesterday morning.
The bid book will be submitted to the Commonwealth Sports Conference
held in Malaysia on May 11.
The President who paid special attention to the bid book said the
Government would do its utmost to obtain 2018 Commonwealth Games host
status to Sri Lanka, said a press release by the President’s Media
Division, Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Minister Dilan
Perera, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Sports Ministry
Secretary U.R. Seneviratne, Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal,
Chief of Defence Staff Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetilleke, Commanders
of the Army and Navy, the IGP and several other Central Bank officials
were also present.
