Dengue prevention:

House-to-house inspection campaign on May 7

The Colombo Municipal Council's Public Health Department will carry out a house to house inspection campaign on May 7 to create an awareness among residents and inspect all premises in the city as a preventive measure to the dengue epidemic.

Private Organizations, NGOs and volunteers from the forces and police and the staff of the Public Health Department will participate.

"Under the Mosquito-borne Diseases Regulation, the presence of breeding sites is an offence punishable by law. Notices will be issued to such premises at this inspection. Offenders will be taken to courts if action is not taken to remove or destroy breeding sites," Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr Pradeep Kariyawasam said.
