Border clashes not to hurt House dissolution plan
Thailand: New round of border clashes between Thai and
Cambodian troops would not have any impact on the plan to dissolve the
House of Representatives, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on
Sunday afternoon." The Thai armed forces are capable of protecting the
country's sovereignty.
The House dissolution will take place next week, either on May 6 or
7, to pave way for fresh election as promised," Bangkok Post online
quoted Abhisit as saying.
In March, the Prime Minister announced that he will dissolve the
House of Representatives by the first week of May.
On April 18, he also said that the new general election to be held in
late June or early July would determine the future of the country.
Analysts say that the House dissolution in May will pave the way for the
general election which could be organized by late June or early July, or
45 to 60 days after declaration of the parliament dissolution is made in
the royal decree according to the Constitution. Bangkok, Sunday, Xinhua |
