'Vast development in Lanka'
"Sri Lanka is experiencing vast development after three decades of
war. There are external and internal views and beliefs against the
country's development," said Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise
Development Deputy Minister Weerakumara Dissanayake.
The controversial Darusman Report is targeted against the country's
development. The report aims to create a bad image about Sri Lanka
towards the international society, he added.
The deputy minister was speaking on 'Ban Ki Moon-Defence Board and
Fate of the Motherland' at the Mahaweli Centre, Thursday. It was
organized by the Minister's Secretaries' Union.
"No one taught that peace would dawn in Sri Lanka and many
development projects would be launched.
"Many foreign forces are against Sri Lanka," Dissanayake said.
The Darusman Report's main aim is to give a bad image about Sri Lanka
and stop progress of Sri Lanka, Dissanayake said.
"As a developing country we have to achieve a large number of
development goals. We should have a correct vision to achieve these
goals.
"On our journey to development, we should think that we are a proud
nation with a great history. Because of that we must get together as one
nation," the minister said.
He said that the University Students' Unions, Labour Organizations,
Women's Organizations and Youth have a great responsibility towards the
country's development.
Ministers Secretaries' Union chairman Chandrapala Wanniarachchi and
secretary Ajith Jayasundara were among the participants. |
