UGA Resort to expand

UGA Resort is on the look out to expand its presence in Sri Lanka by adding two more luxury resorts named 'Jungle Beach' and 'Nadun Odei' with a total investment of Rs 1.2 billion. Speaking to Daily News Business, Ulagalla Resort Marketing-General Manger Ranjaka De Mel said that construction of 'Jungle Beach' with 50 chalets in Kuchchaveli and Nadun Odei with 60 chalets in Kalpitiya will begin in 2012. Construction of 'Jungle Beach' and 'Nadun Odei' will cost Rs 700 million and Rs 500 million respectively.

"Having understood the enormous potential of eco-tourism in the country, we have adopted some unmatched measures to promote the industry to a higher level.

"We are locating these two resorts targeting the niche market," he said.

In addition Ulagalla Resort, one of luxury and eco-friendly boutique resorts in the country is also owned by UGA Resort.

They have invested over Rs 900 million for Ulagalla Resort alone.
