Shantha Wijesooriya was further remanded till May 12

Pugoda magistrate and Additional District Judge Aravinda Perera yesterday ordered the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission to suspend the operation of the e-news website till the judicial proceedings now being conducted against mediaman Shantha Wijesooriya for publishing an article amounting to contempt of Court in the said website, are completed. The magistrate also ordered that mediaman Shantha Wijesooriya be further remanded till May 12.

The Court had ordered the Kirindiwela Police OIC to arrest and produce before Court Wijesooriya for publishing an article in the website defamatory of the judiciary with regard to a case now before the court in connection with the death of a 47-year-old bachelor Amarasinghe Arachchige David, a resident of Siyambalagahawatte in Pepiliyawala while he was in Kirindiwela Police custody.
