District Judge launches book
The book on 'Legal Status of Right to Life in International Law'
written by Manicavasagar Elancheleyan, District Judge of Kalmunai will
be launched on April 29 at 5.30 pm at Saraswathy hall, Lorenz Road,
Bambalapitiya, Colombo-4, presided by Attorney-at-Law Kandiah
Neelakandan. Chief Justice Asoka de Silva will be the chief guest while
Justice Minister Rauff Hakeem will be the guest of honour.

Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Colombo N Selvakumaran and Head,
Department of Public and International Law V T Tamilmaran will address
the gathering.
Elancheleyan received his secondary education at St John's College,
Jaffna and thereafter entered the University of Colombo and obtained his
Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) in 1990 and passed out as an
Attorney-at-law from the Ceylon Law College in 1991. While in the
University of Colombo he obtained gold medal to the address to the Jury
contest. In the Law College he obtained silver medal to the address to
the Jury contest.
In 1992, he got his LLM in International Law from the University of
Colombo. In 2003, he got his LLM in International Human Rights Law from
the University of Hong Kong. In 1995, he completed six months course
study in International Humanitarian Law from the University of Lund
Sweden. He was a visiting lecturer in law of Juris Prudence in the
University of Colombo from 1996-1997. |
