Host of events in Mahaoya

The Mahaoya Pradeshiya Sabha has organized a series of programmes to mark the 2600th Sambuddhathva Jayanthi, Mahaoya Sasanarakshaka Balamandalaya secretary Iddapola Sumedha Thera said.

Highlights among the event is a Sacred Relics Perahera from Borapola Shakyasinharama to Padiyathalawa town on May 7 at 7 a.m.

The Sacred Relics will be taken in decorated vehicles accompanied by Kandyan dancers and other cultural displays.

It is organized by the Mahaoya Rajamaha Temple, Gallen Temple, Tanpitiya Temple and the Borapola Shakyasingharama.

The organizing committee will also hold several other religious activities.
