Join hands to defeat international forces - Wimal

All communities should join together to defeat international pressure against Sri Lanka, National Freedom Front (NFF) leader and Minister Wimal Weerawansa said.

Minister Weerawansa addressing the media at the NFF office yesterday said that foreign forces have launched a malicious campaign against Sri Lanka based on the controversial Darusman report. According to this report, some foreign media too were involved in portraying a bad picture of Sri Lanka.

The minister questioned as to what impact the controversial Darusman report will have on Sri Lanka. He said NFF had launched a protest against the UN panel to advise Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. They have already predicted that the report would be dangerous to the country.

Weerawansa said his party condemned Ban Ki Moon toeing the line of the United States. The panel of experts set up to advise Ban Ki Moon is aimed at extending his term with USA support.

This report makes dangerous war crime allegations against Sri Lanka. A three-member committee including Marsuki Darusman have become puppets of the LTTE rump, he said. "They are doing this as a revenge against President Mahinda Rajapaksa who liberated the country from 30 years of terrorism," Weerawansa said.

The NFF will also organize a May Day rally under the theme 'Let us not sub jugate ourselves or bow our heads to imperialist forces' on May 1. The rally will be held at Maligakanda which will later join the UPFA rally.
