Monument to be built at A'pura

The 2,600th Sambuddhathva Jayanthi - State Vesak Ceremony Organizing
Committee has decided to build a monument to mark the Sambuddhathva
Jayanthi at Anuradhapura.
This commemoration monument will be unveiled by President Mahinda
Rajapaksa.
The committee has decided to name a road as Sambuddhthva Jayanthi
Mawatha to commemorate this historic event, said Buddhist Affairs
Commissioner General Chandra Prema Gamage.
This Committee Meeting was held under the patronage of North Central
Province Chief Minister Berti Premalal Dissanayake on April 25. Buddhist
Affairs Assistance Commissioner Chathura Jayasinghe said that the
2,600th Sambuddhthva Jayanthi -State Vesak Ceremony Organizing Committee
has decided to hold the State Vesak Ceremony with the participation of
2600 Dhamma school children. Further he explained that a 2600 pahan
pooja has also been organized to mark the occasion. |
