Lanka Institute of Fitness and Nutrition is an institute registered
with the Sri Lanka Tertiary and Vocational Educational Commission. This
institute is the first to conduct classes in fitness and nutrition.
The Principal of this Institute, Sudath Gotabaya’s main aim is to
recognise all fitness trainers, scattered all over Sri Lanka. His
earnest endeavours are to motivate them as devoted Physical Culture
Instructors and to assist all fitness lovers in Sri Lanka.
The institute conducted a six months comprehensive course in physical
culture education. Lecturers included: Dr. Lal Ekanayaka M.B.B.S.,
Specialist in Sports Medicine, Ms. Vindya Ganegama Aarachchi, Research
Officer, Institute of Sports Medicine, R.M.R.D. Ratnayaka, Physical
Fitness Instructor and Athletic Coach, Thisara Jayasekara B.Sc., M.Sc.
Food and Nutrition, they all represent the Ministry of Sports. 35
physical culture trainers passed out as Physical Culture Instructors.
The Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development Dullas
Alahapperuma distributed the certificates.
