Czech Republic to develop Lanka's water supply sector

An agreement was signed between the Governments of Czech Republic and
Sri Lanka to launch development programmes in the water supply sector,
Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said.
Czech Republic's Environmental Deputy Minister Ivo Hlavac has agreed
with Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to assist Sri
Lanka to meet numerous targets related to the water supply and drainage
sector, said Minister Gunawardena.
The agreement was signed at the Water Supply and Drainage Ministry on
April 18. Minister Gunawardena said the Czech Republic will help
economic development in Sri Lanka. "They agreed to provide their
knowledge of water supply projects for many development programmes," he
said.
Subjects such as water, water treatment and drainage, sewerage are
included in the programmes. Research and study of water will also be
carried out under the programme, the Minister said.
The Government and the private sector of the Czech Republic will
participate in this task. They also expressed their confidence in
President Mahinda Rajapaksa and invited Sri Lankan businessmen to invest
in the Czech Republic.
