UN team meets Minister Basil Rajapaksa

A team of UN representatives who are providing assistance for the Divi Neguma Project in Sri Lanka recently met Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and had extensive discussion on the project.

It was explained at the discussion that the objective of the Divi Neguma Program was to make available nutritious food to the people by enabling them to undertake home gardening. Minister Basil Rajapaksa said at the meeting that the Divi Neguma Project was also aimed a promoting the living standards of one million families and encouraging them to be shareholders of the Government’s initiatives to develop the food industry in the country.

Officials from the World Food Program, World Health Organization, World Agriculture Organization, JAICA Institute, USAID, UNICEF, UNDP and from the Economic Development Ministry also were present.
