Thambuttegama CC rout Vidyadharshi

Good batting and bowling by Thambuttegama Central College helped them to a convincing innings and 168 run victory over Nochchiyagama Vidyadarshi College in their fifth annual Big Match played at Nochchiyagama on Thursday.

Sajith Yasasiri with 62 and Dilum Susantha 46 helped Thambuttegama CC put up a 135 first wicket partnership which laid the foundation for a total of 308 for nine wickets, while a six wicket haul by Chamod Bandara including a hat-trick was the star with the ball.

Nochchiyagam CC, having won the toss opted to field first from which Thambuttegama openers made maximum use of the opportunity. The rest of the batsman did their job by making useful contributions for them to declare at 308 for nine in the first innings.

Sajith Yasasiri (5 for 7)and Ravin Kasun (3 for 1) struck early followed by Dilshan Nayanajith who took 2 for 6 to restrict their opponents first innings to 44 all out with Ashan Sandeepa top scoring with 27.

Following on Nochchiyagama CC face the same fate when they bowled out for 96 runs. Prasad Kumara was the top scorer with 23, while Chamod Bandara destroyed batting line up by claiming 6/21 inclusive of a hat-trick.

Chief guest Daminda Dissanayake gave away the Trophy and special awards to Rasanjana Dilshan, Chamod Bandara, Dilum Susantha who won awards for Best Fielder, Best Bowler and Best Batsman respectively while Sajith Yasasiri for his bat and ball contribution was adjudged the man of the match.

Thambuttegama Central 308 for 9 dec. (Sajith Yasasiri 62, Dilum Susantha 46, Malinda Madumal 46, Ashan Sandeepa 4/39, Madusha Weerasekara 3/47)

Vidyadarshi College Nochchiyagama 44 all out (Ashan Sandeepa 27, Sajith Yasasiri 5/7, Ravin Kasun 3/1, Dilshan Nayanajith 2/6) and 96 in the second innings. (Prasad Kumara 23, Chamod Bandara 6/21). Thabuththegama Central College won by an innings and 168 runs.
