Royal edge out Wesley

Royal College survived a fierce late rally from Wesley College before recording a thrilling 33 points to 32 points victory in their inter school under 19 rugby tournament match worked off at Havelock Park yesterday.

Royal College collected their points from three goals, three penalties and one drop goal while the Wesleyites responded with three goals, one try and two penalties.

Royal were well set to register a convincing victory at one stage after having built up a 17 nil lead during the opening twenty minutes of play. However Wesley came back into the game with two tries but Royal went on to lead 17-14 at half time.

The game took a dramatic change in the second half with Wesley snatching the lead 27-20 following a tremendous performance mid way in the second half. However Royal held their nerves during the last few moments of the game and turned the match in their favour. CD
