Royal edge out Wesley
Royal College survived a fierce late rally from Wesley College before
recording a thrilling 33 points to 32 points victory in their inter
school under 19 rugby tournament match worked off at Havelock Park
yesterday.
Royal College collected their points from three goals, three
penalties and one drop goal while the Wesleyites responded with three
goals, one try and two penalties.
Royal were well set to register a convincing victory at one stage
after having built up a 17 nil lead during the opening twenty minutes of
play. However Wesley came back into the game with two tries but Royal
went on to lead 17-14 at half time.
The game took a dramatic change in the second half with Wesley
snatching the lead 27-20 following a tremendous performance mid way in
the second half. However Royal held their nerves during the last few
moments of the game and turned the match in their favour. CD
Easy for Peterites
St. Peter's College cruised to another big victory as they trounced
Thurstan College by a convincing margin of 61 points to 6 points in
their inter school under 19 rugby tournament match worked off at the
Royal Sports Complex yesterday.
The Peterites completely dominated the game and went on to plant as
many as eleven tries out which three were converted after having taken a
commanding 32-3 lead at half time.
Thurstan College managed to put over only two penalties. CD |
