Janadivi Aruna launched:

Boost for Mahaweli products

The Mahaweli Janadivi Aruna trade exhibition launched at the Vihara Mahadevi Park yesterday enables people to buy food at reasonable prices during the festive season, Irrigation and Water Resources Management Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said.

It also aims to create awareness of Mahaweli food and industrial products.

The exhibition which continues till April 10, will showcase the development activities carried out by the government to increase local food production. The exhibition will be carried out annually and later expanded throughout the country.

The Ministry intends to support the plant nursery program which has a high demand in Colombo due to the Divinaguma programme.

It has also instructed authorities to sell Mahaweli products in the Mahaweli sales outlets to ensure food security.
