Export sector eyes int'l market

For local business enterprises:

The government and the authorities in the export sector are eyeing more opportunities in the international market for local business enterprises.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the Expo Bazaar 2011, Industry and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen said Sri Lanka recorded a satisfactory growth within the last quarter with Gross Domestic Product recording a commanding 8.6 percent growth with the dawn of peace in the country.

"The private sector is recording the same growth with strong top and bottom line performance along with satisfactory stock market performance". "Sri Lanka is open to the world and we welcome the world to Sri Lanka with great pride".

"The biggest challenge we face is to make world understand Sri Lanka's potential along with effective nation branding," the Minister said. "We are geared to lift the export industry into to a US $ 20 billion industry by 2020 and it is vital to build on positive vibes from cricket shows that is surrounding Brand Sri Lanka with its people.
