Aluth Sahal Mangalyaya on grand scale

The Aluth Sahal Mangalyaya will be held on a grand scale at the
premises of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi today and tomorrow.
This traditional and cultural religious activity has been organized
by the Agrarian Services Ministry and the Agrarian Services Department.
The ceremony will be held under the guidance of Atamastanadipati Ven Dr
Pallegama Sirinivasa Thera and other Chief Incumbents of the Atamasthana
temples.
The Aluth Sahal Mangalyaya will be held under the direction of
Agrarian Services and Wild Life Minister S M Chandrasena with the
participation of Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abewardana, Child
Development and Women Affairs Minister Tissa Karaliyadda, North Central
Province Governor Karunarathna Divulgane, North Central Province Chief
Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake and Deputy Ministers and Provincial
Council Members, Pradeshiya Sabha Members and other officers .
This ceremony will be organized under the patronage of Speaker Chamal
Rajapaksa.
This traditional religious activity which is held after the
harvesting of the Maha season, had commenced with the arrival of the
Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi to the country. All farming communities get
together to hold this ceremony on a grand scale annually. The major
objective of this is to receive the blessings of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi
for the prosperity of the country and nation and for the prosperity of
all agricultural pursuits of the country.
Further it is to bring blessing on the President for ending the
30-year war and bringing peace and harmony to the nation.
It is also for the success of every development program of the
Government and to build the country as the miracle of Asia.
The Mangalyaya will be held with the participation of the 556
Agrarian Services Centers, 1,300 farming committees and farming
organizations around the country. A milk boiling ceremony at the four
corners of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi precinct is scheduled to be held
today at 6 am. In the evening a lotus flower Pooja will be held
simultaneously at the Ruwanweli Seya, followed up with a All Night
Pirith Chanting Ceremony at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi premises.
The Perahera will commence at the Vissramashala of Ruwanweli Seya at
7.30 am tomorrow. The large gold plated bowl placed on the special
pedestal at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, will be filled with new rice until
it overflows. After that other Pooja items as well as Atapirikara, gold
and silver coins and flowers will be offered to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi.
At noon the religious activity will end with an alms giving at the
premises of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. |
