Minister flexes muscles

Officers inconveniencing commuters will be dealt with:

Transport Minister Kumara Welgama visited several railway stations on the coastal line to see for himself the delays in trains following complains from commuters.

The Minister left Colombo Fort by train at 5.10 am and reached Aluthgama Railway station. Welgama said that he would not hesitate to deal sternly with railway officers who inconvenience commuters. He said those officers who could not accomplish their duties properly should resign from the service.

The Minister also expressed his hope that the railway officers and workers would cooperate to ensure an efficient train service.
