Beware of fake websites selling WC tickets

Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT) had identified several fake websites selling ICC World Cup tickets through the Internet, said SLCERT Senior Information Protection Engineer Rohana Palliyaguru.

These websites are operated from countries such as India and China.

SLCERT had informed the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team about these fake websites, he added. He noted that the main aim of these website operators is stole others' credit card information and their numbers.

The public should be vigilant when buying World Cup tickets over Internet, he said.

The public can inform SLCERT if they come across such websites, Palliyaguru said. He said the SLCERT will file legal action against these fake websites.
