EDB to hold Expo Bazaar

Today, Sri Lanka has made a brand name in the international market
for a number of locally manufactured products in different sectors. But,
there is a tendency of always appreciating only imported goods among
some people.
Most of them do not know what is Sri Lanka is capable of, because
there was no mechanism to educate people on its talents and
capabilities. Victoria Silk, and Dilma Tea are some of the reputed Sri
Lankan brands available in the international market.
The Export Development Board (EDB) has now created this mechanism
through a unique trade fair and exhibition named the Expo Bazaar for the
first time to showcase these world class products and services. The
exhibition will be held from 8 to 10 April at Green Path Road Colombo.
According to EDB Chairman Janaka Rathnayake only selected top class
exclusive export items will be displayed and sold at this exhibition.
This will include 150 export products out of 1500 consisting apparel,
ceramics, tea, ornamental fish and spices. The target groups include the
foreign missions, local buyers, entrepreneurs and the public.
The Chairman said that visitors will be able to see and buy all high
quality exports under one roof which is a rare opportunity. This will
also stimulate a positive export culture among people in the country.
The advantages are that the people who can afford to buy these items
for domestic use and those who cannot at least get to know that Sri
Lanka has made a name in the world that people can be proud of. This
exhibition will benefit those entrepreneurs who are interested in
entering the export industry as well.
An exporter’s directory will be launched at the exhibition free of
charge with the support of Yellow Pages which will give all the details
of exhibitors’ profiles and companies. There will be an e-directory with
the same details. |
