National Chamber to send team to China
Training in green tea manufacture :
The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka will send a delegation
of planters and senior officials of tea plantation companies for
training in green tea manufacture to the People’s Republic of China.
The training program will be conducted for nine days from April 17 to
26 in Fujian province in the People’s Republic of China.
Co-ordination of the delegation in China will be done by the Sri
Lanka Consulate in Shanghai with the assistance of China Council for
Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Fujian province. Consumption of
green tea has become popular in most of the Far East and ASEAN nations
and since of late this pattern has come to Sri Lanka as well. Although
there are a few factories in Sri Lanka on manufacture of green tea,
future potential seems to be promising.
The National Chamber with a view to increasing green tea manufacture
in Sri Lanka commenced this technology transfer program with China in
2009. So far the chamber has sent more than 40 participants for training
in green tea manufacture to China and some of them have successfully
started this process in Sri Lanka.
This time, training will include theory, practicals, demonstrations
and field visits. The delegation is expected to leave Sri Lanka around
April 15 or 16 and arrive in Fuzhou, Fujian Province on April 17.
Thereafter they will meet officers of Fujian Tea Association and
visit the tea market in Fuzhou, followed by visits to tea factories for
training.
They also will have an opportunity to visit the Jinjiang Foot Wear
International Exposition and Fujian International Project Co-operation. |
