Web launch

The web launch of Ruk Rakaganno will take place on March 18 at 6 pm at PGIAR, 407, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7. A lecture by Dr Shankar Raaman of India on 'Bringing back the rain forests' will be held after the web launch.


Book discussion

Nuvan Nayanajith's collection of critical essays Pathana, Vichara ha Alochana (Reading, Criticism and Insight) will be discussed at Sri Lanka

Press Council (close to Mel Medura and Lanka Sumithrayo at Horton Place) on March 18 at 4 pm.

Pathana is Nuvan's latest book on literary criticism. The discussion will be moderated by Ven Agalakada Sirisumana Thera. The session is organized by Press Council Media course students.

The previous readings were on Edmund Jayasooriya's Sinhala translation

of Rabindranath Tagore's Geethanjali and Sunanda Karunaratne's poetry collection Doovili Minisa, Somaratne Balasuriya's Lokaya Miyayai, Suwanda Sugunasiri's Untouchable Woman's Odyssey, Daya Dissanayake's The Clone and Seetha Mahendra's Samugath Suhadiniya.


Cathay Pacific Airways celebrates Chinese New Year

Cathay Pacific Airways recently celebrated the Chinese New Year of the Rabbit at Blue Elephant - Hilton, Colombo with an enjoyable Chinese dance competition for the airlines affiliated travel partners.


BOC Travels - 1st runner-up

The competition was held with the aim of strengthening ties with the travel agents and as a gesture of gratitude for the support rendered to Cathay Pacific Airways over the years. Around 12 travel agents were nominated to participate in the Chinese Dance Competition - Aitken Spence Travels, BOC Travels, Classic Travels, Gabo Travels, Hemas Travels, Mackinnons American Express Travels, Qwest Destinations, Sun Power Travels, Travel Arcade, Travel Shop, Travel Zone and VMS Travels.

The event was judged by Malay dance expert Azmara Allang, professional dancer Toni Fernandez and the Cathay Pacific Country Manager Andrew Pattison.

Mackinnons American Express Travels emerged winners of this competition, and BOC Travels and Qwest Destinations were placed first runner-up and second runner-up respectively. The winners received four return air tickets to Bangkok or Singapore, and the runners up were gifted exclusive Cathay Pacific branded merchandise and gift vouchers.

"We are very pleased at the outcome of the competition and the tremendous response from our travel partners."
