Rural development vital

The government blessed with the strong leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been endeavouring to enhance the infrastructure facilities such as water, electricity, and roadways in the rural areas. The President has placed great trust in the Pradeshiya Sabhas in the speedy implementation of rural development projects and offered adequate funds to the PS members for development activities.

The village is considered the most important component in the structural processing of the country to be the “Miracle of Asia” said North Central Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake at the inauguration ceremonies to mark the commissioning of Pahala Talawa and Korakahawewa Water Supply schemes recently.

The Government spent Rs 21 million for the construction of the two water supply projects which are long felt needs of the villagers. The two projects will cater to 500 families in Pahala Talawa and Korakahawewa come under Talawa PS, the Chief Minister said.

He said that to solve the drinking water problem in the Talawa PS jurisdictions, the NCPC has spent Rs 250 million.
