Programs to commemorate Int’l Down Syndrome Day

The Miranda Hemalatha Kala Ashshramaya Diridaru Piyasa Special Children’s Unit has planned a series of programs to commemorate International Down Syndrome Day which falls on March 23, said Veteran artiste and dancing teacher Mirenda Hemalatha.

The Diridaru Piyasa Special Children’s Unit will present ‘Nartana Rekha’, a dance performance at the Tower Hall Theatre on March 23 at 6 pm.

An Arts and Crafts sales exhibition and cultural show by children with Down Syndrome will be held at MJF Centre, Mortuwa on March 26 at 1.30 pm.

Hemalatha says that this would bring out the best in children affected by Down Syndrome and would be a good opportunity for them to showcase their talents. The main aim is to help them stand on their feet and be independent, she said.
