Prajapathi champs
Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy, the only girls school in Kandy
involved in both hardball and softball cricket held their 'Cricket Day'
recently in the school playground.
At the start they had a softball cricket tournament among four houses
ie Sangamitta, Prajapathi, Maya and Yasodara.
Teacher-in-charge Mrs K C Kurukulasuriya told the reporter since
there is no wicket to play hardball, the cricket day was limited to
softball matches only and that she intends to have inter-house hardball
matches soon at a place where a hardball wicket is available. The
Principal of the school, Mrs Indra Withanachchi was the chief guest and
the Deputy Principals, Mrs Asoka Dissanayake and Mrs Visaka Herath were
present as the guests of honour. The matches were played on knock-out
basis and each innings was limited to 10 overs.
Prajapathi House emerged champions beating Sangamitta House by 9
wickets in the finals and Maya House came third beating Yasodara House.

51 for 5 wickets in 10 overs (Buddhini Samarasinghe 10, Dulanjali
Withanage 11, Niluka Mortimor 2 for 11, Raveena Liyanage 2 for 15).
Prajapathi House 58 for 1 wicket in 7 overs (Raveena Liyanage 34 n.o.
(6 x 3), Hashini Ratnayake 10 n.o.,Dulanjali Withanage 1 for 18).
