ACWBC 2,600th Sambuddhattva Jayanthi program

The All Ceylon Women’s Buddhist Congress has planned to construct a building at the premises of All Ceylon Women Buddhist Congress at Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7. Plans are under-way to lay the foundation stone on Vesak Full Moon day this year.

As part of the fund-raising activities for the Sambuddhattva Jayanthi Building Project, a New Year Fair (Pola) will be held on Sunday April 3, 2011 at the Congress premises at 400, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7. Well-wishers are requested to donate goods of any kind to be sold at the Pola.

A Vegetarian Lunch was served on January 30, 2011 to collect funds for this task.

The ACWBC has organized a series of programs in addition to the above mentioned events.

A 10-day program of social and religious activities is scheduled to be held in May this year.

The program begins with a Buddhist sermon on Saturday May 14 to be followed by a medical camp with the participation of Western as well as Ayurveda specialists on Sunday May 15. On May 16 a Bodhi puja will be conducted around the sacred Bodhi tree in the premises.

A sil program will be conducted on Vesak Poya Day May 17, A dansela to be held in front of the ACBC premises will be serving biscuits and coffee to all the visitors to the Bauddhaloka Vesak celebrations.

The ceremony for the foundation stone laying for the Sambuddhattva Jayanthi Building will take place on May 18.

A Bhakthi Geetha program will be organized on May 19 with the participation of inmates of ACWBC Homes, Executive Committee Members and the Office Staff.

On May 20, a visit to the Cancer Hospital has been scheduled where the patients will be given a treat.

Inmates of the ACWBC Elders’ Home will be taken on a tour of Buddhist religious sites and temples on May 21. The 2,600th program will conclude with a Buddhist sermon and a meditation session on May 23. Members of the public are welcome to participate in these activities.
