The national flag is an emblem of pride and patriotism. We often use
this symbol to mark occasions of national importance. Designed with much
care and purpose the Sri Lankan national flag not only represents the
country and her heritage but is a rallying device that integrates the
minority races with the majority race.
With ICC World Cup fever taking the country by storm, cricket mania
had become intertwined in the lives of the public in many aspects. It
had ventured to the art stream and inspired artistes to compose their
own creations hailing cricket.
One eye catching production of this cricket craze is the foot-tapping
song adorning Dialog Telekom's latest commercial. The song evokes Sri
Lanka's 1996 World Cup triumph and expresses the desires and good wishes
of the public.
The song is penned by popular journalist and lyricist Ajith
Galappaththi. Mahesh Denipitiya had composed the tune and set it to
music. Janaka Vithanage and Ruwan Weerasekara have rendered their voices
for the song.
Former cricketers Aravinda de Silva, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Kumar
Dharmasena and Upul Chandana who played key roles in Sri Lankan cricket
have been featured in the song. Popular artistes Iranganie Serasinghe,
Dhananjaya Siriwardena, Sujani Menaka, Manjula Kumari, Oshadie
Hewamadduma and Iraj Weeraratne too make an appearance in the video. Ram
Ilango has directed the song sequences according to Janaka
Tillakaratne's visual creation.
The project is spearheaded by Ogilvy Action and Advertising Agency.
It is sponsored by Mind Fire company.
