PM to open Pallekele Stadium

The Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, also known as the Muttiah Muralitharan International Cricket Stadium, will be officially declared open by the Prime Minister D M Jayaratne on the invitation of Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage today at 1.00pm.

The newly built stadium accommodates 35,000 spectators. After the opening, New Zealand will take on Pakistan in an ICC Cricket World Cup group A fixture.
