In Central Province:

Nearly 2,604 power schemes

Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka has focused his attention on the inauguration of 2,604 new electrification schemes next year for the rural population in the Central Province under the Government’s aim to provide electricity to every citizen in the country.

Accordingly, 1,242 projects have been earmarked for the Kandy District and the new schemes will be implemented in the Teldeniya, Ududumbara, Pathadumbara, Galagedara, Yatinuwara, Udunuwara, Kundasale, Gampola, Hewaheta, Navalapitiya and Harispattuwa Divisional Secretaries Divisions.

Teldeniya will have 213 projects, Ududumbara 410, Pahathadumbara 72, Galagedara 147, Yatinuwara 28, Udunuwara 27, Kundasale 37, Gampola 125, Hewaheta 125, Navalapitiya 29 and Harispattuwa 29 projects. Minister Ranawaka has also planned to provide 1,357 projects in the Matale District next year. Nuwara Eliya will also have a number of electrification schemes next year.
