Job oriented skills :

SDFL geared to produce ideal workforce

The innovation, flexibility and dedication that are necessary to build truly dynamic companies come from well-trained and supported employees.

One of the best ways to encourage and support individuals in a workforce is through professional development and training opportunities.

In keeping with this reality Skills Development Fund Ltd (SDFL) has been striving to provide high quality and skill based training with the mission to enhance nation’s enterprise competitiveness through skills development. The SDFL is a collective enterprise of the government and the private sector to cater to the human resource development needs of employers. It was launched on pilot basis in 1998 and on its success it was incorporated as a Public Limited Liability Company in 1999 as a self funded institute.

Within the past decade it has been able to become one of the leading organizations by providing various training to a cross section of the society’s workforce. SDFL Chairman Malith Jayathilaka said that Sri Lanka has an energetic and multi talented workforce and its thirst for knowledge is remarkable. However he brought out that there should be a national program to concentrate on soft skills development since we as a country lack soft skills.

The SDFL pursuing its vision “to be the nation’s leader in skills development” supports job entry training, skills upgrading, attitude changes, and retraining of employees. The training programs of the SDFL range from technical skills transfer programs to supervisory grade and managerial skills development programs. It has launched courses with new dimensions to suit the changing scenario in contemporary organizational needs.

It has also embarked upon Certificate and Diploma courses on Information Technology, Management, Language Skills and Productivity issues. Leading State sector Departments and Corporations, and Private sector organizations have chosen SDFL to provide required job training and skills development through specially designed customized programs.

On the request it has conducted in house programs in many parts of the country including Trincomalee, Kurunegala, Batticaloa, Matara and Galle. Its service had also been rendered to the Three Forces at reduced rates during recent past.

Those who wish to take part in SDFL programs can obtain further information on 011 4522778 or 011 4507273.
