Lanka's talent market low - HR Head
Harshini Perera
The talent market in Sri Lanka is comparatively low. Human resource
professionals however expected it to grow in the post war era but there
is hardly a growth in the talent market yet.
Human resource professionals need to understand the development plans
of the organization they are working for while business priorities
should also be taken into consideration, HSBC, Human Resources Head Ravi
Jayasekara said at the launch of HR and IR website recently.
"There is a possibility of taking recruitment and resourcing beyond a
process as it currently functions in organizations. Recruitment and
resourcing can be used for competitive advantages of an organization,"
Jayasekara said.
He said HR professionals in an organization need to understand the
end goal of recruitment and try to build talents within the organization
rather than buy talents from outside.
The new website, www.hrnetwork.lk will come out with HR ethics, best
practices and moreover to share practices among professionals.
Interested parties can register as a member for this network.
The website and the forum will get HR professionals together and make
a platform to learn from each other's practices. It will also handle
industry related issues with expertise knowledge while informing others
on modern HR techniques and policies.
"There are three thought processes accompanied with talents such as
whether to build, buy or borrow talents. It is believed that 75 percent
of development happens on the job. Therefore, internal talents should be
recruited for vacancies before considering talents from outside,"
Jayasekara said. |
