NDB Bank, DIMO train Jaffna youth
NDB Bank, in collaboration with Diesel and Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO)
launched the second project of the 'NDB Jeevana Livelihood Training and
Loan Scheme' in Jaffna recently.

Under this initiative, 30 youth from Jaffna were selected as eligible
candidates to undergo six months of comprehensive theory and practical
training in automobile service and maintenance under the expertise of
DIMO.
The preliminary interviews for the selection of candidates for the
Jeevana scheme were held in Jaffna; where these candidates were selected
based on their skills and abilities.
The training sessions offered under the guidance of DIMO will cover a
range of subjects including tutorials on basic tools and workshop
safety, introduction on engine systems, chassis systems, electrical
systems and transmission systems, understanding clutch, brakes, front
and rear suspension, drive train and final drives and tyres.
The training will instill all the necessary skills for each trainee
to handle any kind of service or maintenance for various types of
vehicles.
The 'NDB Jeevana Livelihood Training and Loan Scheme' is coupled with
a special personal loan issued at a concessionary rate with a grace
period for payment. NDB Bank has targeted high demand sectors such as
hospitality, motor mechanism, construction and nursing for students who
wish to pursue careers in these industries but lack the facilities and
financial support to do so. The loan component will comprise of an
allocation for all tuition and training costs and other required
amenities.
The students will be entitled to a personal accident insurance cover
which will be valid for the training period. Additionally, the bank's
CSR has also equipped the students with tool kits to be used during
their training.

Amana Takaful insures first limo
Amana Takaful was able to provide the insurance coverage for the very
first limousine to ply the roads of the island. The stylish lifestyle
automobile was brought to Amana Takaful head office recently to accept
the insurance cover.
The limousine, a Chrysler C300 (USA) is 14.8 feet long and has a 3500
cc engine with 418 BHP, and can comfortably seat eight people and has
special lighting, conference call facility, LCD screens, fridge, etc;
inside the limousine making it entertainment and business on wheels.
The limousine is owned by Casons Rent-A-Car, one of Amana Takaful's
longstanding clients.

NTB rewards moneygram customers
Nations Trust Bank together with MoneyGram International rewarded
customers with tickets to watch the ICC World Cup matches hosted in Sri
Lanka.
The promotion was jointly conducted with MoneyGram international, one
of the co-sponsors of the ICC World Cup.

The drawing of the Winner was conducted in the presence of the bank's
officials. The winner received tickets to the match between Pakistan vs.
Sri Lanka that was played on February 26, at R Premadasa Stadium.
The promotion will continue until March 30, with more tickets to be
given away for the upcoming matches together with the quarter and semi
finals.

MindStar launches season two
DFCC MindStar, the award-winning reality TV quiz show produced by
DFCC bank announced the launch of the show's second season last week.
The announcement made at a press conference held at the Galle Face Hotel
in Colombo that was attended by Director DFCC Bank Chief Executive
Officer Nihal Fonseka and DFCC Vardhana Bank Chief Executive Officer and
Director Lakshman Silva. Earlier this year, MindStar won the award for
the 'Best Reality TV Show' at the 2010 Asian Mass Media Awards. The
show, conceptualized by DFCC Bank, began its first season in May 2010,
and quickly built up a large following consisting of viewers across the
island. The show's second season will continue to be presented by its
brand ambassador Ravindra Randeniya.
MindStar's second season will run for 35 weeks and will feature 225
contestants.
A new feature of the show in the new season will be five special
school shows in which forty-five students will be selected from national
schools through an eligibility test held with the approval of the
Education Ministry. The prize money for the winning school is Rs one
million. |
