Asia Pacific high end investors in Sri Lanka

Seventeen high end investors from the Asia Pacific region was in Sri
Lanka last week to have dialogues with top Sri Lankan companies such as
John Keells, BoC, HNB, Colombo Dockyard and Aitken Spence .
Seeing the huge potential in Sri Lanka for international investors
the leading financing company Credit Suisse organized these meetings
with their clients and Sri Lankan companies.
Credit Suisse operates in 57 countries and provides comprehensive
financial solutions thruogh private banking, investment banking and
asset management.
Credit Suisse Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director Dumith
Fernando told Daily News Business that the companies had fruitful
discussions during two days and hoped to have further discussions in the
second stage.
These foreign investors has shown a keen interest in investing in
listed and non listed companies in Sri Lanka.
He hoped that the expected growth pattern in Sri Lanka will create
very good opportunities with new development projects in the country
such as the industrial harbour and other infrastructure.
He said that Credit Suisse was in consistent focus for sometime after
August last year on increasing investment projects in Asia. The company
has good corporate contacts and it could utilize a large amount of
capital for them.
Therefore the company is interested in introducing their clients to
emerging markets and work through public private partnerships.
He said that the emerging markets will certainly continue to be
drivers of growth and growth and innovation was one of the company’s
main equity ideas for 2011.
That includes some of the emerging stock markets where there is still
scope. The company is particularly keen on companies in the developed
markets that are continuing to innovate.
John Keells Capital President Krishan Balendra said that John Keells
Stock Brokers has been working with Credit Suisse after participating in
the high profile Asian Investor Conference in Hong Kong last August and
had achieved successful results so far. |
