Ashan sets new course record

The up and coming driver Ashan Silva set up a new course record at the annual Eliyakande Hill Climb on Saturday in Matara. Ashan driving his Mitsubkshi Evo IX in style in the SL-GT class set the new record clocking the fastest time for the day 34.79 secs. The distance for the Climb was 675 meters.

With this Best timing and the record he ston this earned him three awards Best Driver, Best time for the day and the Preethis Palliyaguru Challenge Trophy.

Meanwhile in the Motor Cycle Class it was Tuan Ossen who went away with the main award for this category. He went on to complete the distance in a time of 39.79 secs on a Honda CRF 250cc to win this class and the main award for the fastest time recorded by a rider on this day.

In The Ladies category it was the Matara driver Chinthioka Jayasinghe who bagged the coveted trophy on offer. Susantha Gunewardene too had a good day here in Matara winning the Ford Laser Class while Dhammika Pieris made sure of his win in the Ford Laser 1400cc class ahead of Susantha Gunewardene.

The Motor cycle events saw many new comers in the scene with almost all events won by young riders.
