Dilwin MENDIS - Moratuwa sports corr
Moratu Vidyalaya allrounder Sanka Ramesh who has already 1,181 runs
under his belt, became the first schoolboy cricketer among schools in
the island to achieve a very rare feat of scoring one thousand runs and
capturing one hundred wickets (103) for the 2010/2011 cricket season
including three, ten-wicket and nine, five-wicket hauls when he claimed
5 for 116 against Mahanama College, Colombo in their inter-school under
19 cricket match worked off at Moratuwa.
Ramesh who achieved this rare double in his sixteenth match is a
right hand bat and a right arm leg spinner who turned out for Singhalese
Sports Club for the second successive year in the under 23 premier
cricket tournament organized by Sri Lanka Cricket and undoubtedly he can
be classed as the best all round cricketer among the schools at present.
He is probably the third schoolboy cricketer to join the select band
of schoolboy cricketers of scoring one thousand runs and claiming one
hundred wickets for a season.
Also he is the first Vidyalian to achieve this hard earned double for
his alma-mater in their 75 year old cricket history.
