Kiribathgoda is the latest suburb to have its own ODEL store,
following the opening of the 14th outlet of Sri Lanka's premier fashion

Union Bank opens in Gampaha

The newest branch of Union Bank was opened by Economic Development
Minister Basil Rajapaksa in the presence of Union Bank Chairman Ajita de
Zoysa.
Located at No 6 Asoka Gardens, Colombo Road, Gampaha the new branch
opened its doors to the residents of Gampaha giving them an opportunity
to take advantage of the Bank's comprehensive and advanced product
portfolio covering SME, Retail and Corporate Banking solutions.
Union Bank Director and Chief Executive Officer Anil Amarasuriya said
with the opening of the Gampaha branch, the bank expects to increase its
reach to a wider spectrum of consumers offering a range of banking
solutions with a key focus on the Small and Medium sector with increased
lending that would result growth of this sector". He said that the
bank's objective is to be the preferred bank for SME and retail banking

People's Bank launches Rata Salli Vasana

The People's Bank celebrating their 50th anniversary this year will
launch a mega campaign to promote the inflow of remittances to Sri
Lanka.
The bank will introduce the 50th Anniversary Rata Salli Vasana 2011
to attract more remittances to the bank which will benefit the country
by increasing the foreign reserves.
The remittances paid during the period from March one to end August
2011 will be eligible for the draw. The type of eligible inward
remittances should be channelled through SWIT, People's e Remittances
and telexes.
The remittances paid on each day of the week including Sundays and
holidays will be considered as eligible remittances for the draw.
Such remittances paid during each month from March to August 2011 are
eligible for the monthly draws for each particular month and all
remittances paid during the entire period are eligible for the grand
draw.
There are many prizes offered and one mobile phone will be given on
each payment day.
There will be six monthly prizes of Rs 25,000 each during the six
months.
The first grand prize is Rs one million, the second prize is Rs
500,000 and the third prize is Rs 250,000. This draw aims at encouraging
inward remittances through the banking system which is at a low level at
present.
Piramal Glass gets IS0 22000:2005
Piramal Glass Ceylon PLC was accredited with ISO 22000:2005
certifications by BVQS India at a ceremony held at the company's factory
at Poruwadanda, Horana recently.
The presentation was done by BVQS - Sri Lanka branch Manager T K
Ossan. Operations Vice President Pritam Bharti, Operations General
Manager Udaya Hettige, Production Deputy General Manager B L Reddy,
Quality Assurance Manager Nihal Katuwawala and other operating team
members represented the company.
