A high powered Korean delegation from Garamspace Company arrived in
Sri Lanka to handover the initial report of the landmark transportation
project to the Government. The delegation had a series of discussions
with Government officials on the project. A spokesman of the delegation
told Daily News Business that the main objective of developing this
project is to provide and create an economical foundation for Sri
Lanka's sustainable development and enhancement of a close relationship
between the two countries.
He said Garamspace is the fifth largest company entering the
international market for the first time with latest locomotive
technology. The report made by Garamspace Research Institute (GRI) said
that Sri Lanka is experiencing a social change within the country and is
in the midst expansion in infrastructure. With the rapid increase of
foreign visitors and expansion of tourism industry this improvement on
public transport system is inevitable.
As such the GRI team has fulfilled various technical analyses and
carried out study surveys to execute a joint development in brand new
public transit system. The report will draw key factors for success (KFS)
required for this new transit system and a joint development program to
be successfully completed, through Korea's transportation technologies
and regulations.
It will also draw KFS that will help establish core strategies and
directions that will create value in the future.
An expert group of both countries in railway and new transit system
will participate in implementing the project and strategic international
competitive edge will be secured with Sri Lanka Railways. |
