Egypt crisis :

Seeks power transfer

EGYPT: Egyptians have held a massive demonstration in Cairo to start anew towards a faster transfer of power from the interim military Government into a civilian one.

As the Egyptian state television broadcast the swearing-in ceremony of several newly-appointed Ministers, thousands of people staged a rally in Cairo Tuesday to pressure the rulers to remove Ministers who served under the former President Hosni Mubarak, a Press TV correspondent in Egypt reported.

Thousands of people have shown up at the rally and the crowd was expected to get bigger toward the evening as people returned from work.

The military is trying to restrict journalists from videotaping and news gathering.

The fresh round of protests came after the Egyptian Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, which has temporarily taken over power following the historic ouster of Mubarak in the North African country, unveiled a new cabinet on Tuesday.

Some reports suggest that key ministers, such as foreign, finance and interior, were unchanged, a move that infuriated people who have also urged the military rulers to move expeditious to transfer power to a civilian Government. Press TV
