Talking point:

Kept waiting

The scouts who brought the message of unity, peace and harmony in their long journey of 680kms from point Pedro to point Dondra in nine days were subjected to hardships during some welcome ceremonies.

There were many welcome ceremonies in most of the towns conducted by politicians and community groups.

Some organizers have mistreated the tired cyclists as the riders had to wait long hours on the road, especially Matara and Dondra point under the burning sunlight till these VIPs and invitees arrive at the spots. In some incidents the welcome ceremony organizers forgot to treat the cyclists even with a bottle of water.

The so called organizers seemed to be busy in entertaining politicians and VIPs while blowing their own trumpets and praising each other in long speeches. The poor tired cyclists had to stay empty belly till these ceremonies end.
